adamstein.org 2.0

July 29, 2003

The management and staff at adamstein.org™ are pleased to announce the grand kick-off of the second phase of the Adam Stein Project.  For the past seven months, you’ve followed Adam’s hi-jinks as he bicycled through Asia, risking stomach and limb to bring back fresh anecdotes from the mysterious Orient.  Now join Adam as he attends…a stuffy east coast business school!

Hey, wait, come back here.  This will be good, I swear.  Think about it: world-traveling, 30-year-old, lefty type leaps back into school, and not just any school, but Wharton, high temple of the bean-counting crowd.  This is high concept, I tell you.  Television networks take note!  Given that my stock in trade is human folly (usually my own, but not exclusively), the next two years should provide enough blog material for a good-sized novel, or at least a meaty novella.

Will Adam survive the humiliation of the first day when he shows up to class wearing the wrong brand of khakis?  Will the female classmates Adam is secretly giddy about meeting be as scary as he secretly fears?  Will his male classmates be cardboard cutouts or, worse, giant pricks?  Will his peers shun him when they find out he has been exposing their callow pursuits in a snarky blog for the past three semesters?  And most importantly, will the lure of a high salary and loft apartment in New York City divert Adam from his current laser-like focus on a world-saving career somehow related in an as-yet-undetermined-fashion with international development?  (Not to spoil the ending, but the likely answer to all of these questions is: no.)

Watch this space.
