Dientes circuit

Fog
The Dientes circuit is the southernmost trekking in the world, lying just across the Beagle Channel on the tiny Isla Navarino. The trekking here is wild - there are route markers, but no trails per se. Severals hours into the first day of the hike, we lost our way in a thick fog and became entirely lost. There is really nothing sadder than watching two supposed former engineers helplessly attempting to read a compass. The clouds eventually cleared enough for us to see, but we still had no idea where we were. This picture was followed by several hours of bushwhacking, the low point of which was when I slipped on a steep, wet section of the hillside and raised a flap of skin on my hand. It took most of the next day to regain our route. |
