Beaver damage
Beaver damage

I would be remiss if I didn't include one pic of the desctruction wrought by beavers.  I now hate beavers with a consuming and not-entirely-raional passion.  Beavers turn trails into bogs, and forests into obstacle courses of twisted stumps and rotten logs.  Beavers = pure evil.

By the way, it is politically correct to dislike beavers in Patagonia. They are an invader species.  The Argentinian government introduced 15 breeding pairs into the wild in the 1950s ("Because the Argentinian government is stupid," explained one expatriate geologist we met) in the hopes of developing a local fur trade.  Fur trading never took off, and now there are over 75,000 fat, happy beavers in Tierra del Fuego.
